Warm Caring and Arty

CCM Architects, Wellington used Modus manufactured products in two projects recently, the Engine Room Gallery & Te Hopai Home and Hospital.

The Engine Room Gallery at Massey University was established in July 2005 to provide an engaging and critical environment for the development and presentation of diverse, innovative, contemporary art practices and arts based projects. Our track mounted Meteor Major with barn doors was the interior display fitting of choice for the recent upgrade, being an ideal luminaire for illuminating large art work. Modus V Spot interior display lighting complement the smaller art works.

Te Hopai Home and Hospital is a modern, well- equipped facility located in a park-like setting adjacent to Wellington Hospital, Newtown. Te Hopai sets the standard for rest home, dementia and continuing hospital care. Opened in 1889, the Home and Hospital has had many additions and alterations over the years with the latest upgrade being the Lounge and Dining Area. The brief was to make the area pleasant and bright. Our 54W T4 UTube Fluorescent luminaires positioned through the middle of the space with the Modus Mira Pendants in Shell Linen fabric in the rest of the area creates a warm ambience for the residents. Both luminaires are dimmable to allow flexibility in a multi purpose area. The perimeter pelmet lighting having been initially specified as Halogen was changed to Modus Mini Synergy Compact Fluorescent luminaires providing energy efficiency with a superb wall wash effect. The lighting was installed by electrical contractors Frank Millar & Co (Wellington) Ltd.
